February A+ Award: Mrs. Coleman, Still Middle School

February A+ Award: Mrs. Coleman, Still Middle School

The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) and District 204 proudly honor Amy Coleman, an ELA/Social Studies teacher at Still Middle School, with the February A+ Award. Watch the A+ Award team’s surprise visit to recognize Mrs. Coleman for “Making a Difference in District 204."

Mrs. Coleman was nominated for the A+ Award by current Still Middle School student Oscar Yao. In his essay, he describes her as kind, patient, and thoughtful – stating how she always takes the time to explain ideas and concepts clearly so that no one ever feels left behind.

Oscar writes, “Mrs. Coleman’s dedication goes beyond simply teaching facts. She inspires us to think critically, to understand the world around us, and to care about the people in it. Her kindness sets an example for how we should treat others, both inside and outside the classroom.” He goes on to describe Mrs. Coleman as role model who inspires them to be better students and better people.

“I’m just so surprised,” said Mrs. Coleman, beaming as she was surrounded by students, colleagues, and her family. “As an educator, this is such a huge honor.”

Thank you to A+ Award sponsor Western Governors University who once again is partnering with IPEF and District 204 to help recognize one staff member each month for making a difference for students. To celebrate these outstanding staff members, Western Governors University is generously donating $1,000 for each month’s winner to use in his or her school.
