Reported by email@example.com on 9/10/19.
The Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration announced they are jointly investigating the sudden increase of incidents of severe respiratory disease associated with e-cigarette products. This includes the recent death of an Illinois resident who had been hospitalized with a severe respiratory illness following e-cigarette use.
District 204 and the Indian Prairie Parents Council are hosting an event to help inform the community about this timely topic. Parents and students are encouraged to attend “What You Need to Know About Vaping” from 7 to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 2 in the auditorium at Waubonsie Valley High School, 2590 Ogden Ave., Aurora.
Presenters Matt Cassity, Project Coordinator at 360 Youth Services, and Dr. Steven Kovar, Chairman of Pediatrics at Edward Hospital, will share important information about the e-cigarette epidemic. Topics include what ingredients are in e-cigarettes, what do vaping devices look like, the risk for nicotine addiction, and what are the concerns and warning signs of respiratory illness.
